COURSE: Bloodborne Pathogens

DURATION OF COURSE: 1 to 2 hours

PROGRAM GOALS
This program is designed for employees performing collateral duties, such as the Emergency Response Team.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this training session, the participants will be acquainted with the following information:

  • The modes of transmission of bloodborne pathogens.
  • The company's Exposure Control Plan.
  • The use and limitations of methods that will prevent or reduce exposure, including appropriate engineering controls, work practices and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • The types, proper use, location, removal, handling, decontamination, and disposal of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Hepatitis B vaccine.
  • Appropriate actions to take and persons to contact in an emergency involving blood or other potentially infectious materials.
  • The procedure to follow if an exposure incident occurs.
  • The signs and labels and/or color coding required by 8CCR 5193(g)(1)(Labels and Signs)

At the conclusion of the class, each participant will take a written examination and complete a course evaluation.
