COURSE: Defensive Driving

PREREQUISITE: To participate in this class, completion of the Confined Space Entry course and CPR and First Aid are required.

COMPLIANCE REFERENCE: T8 CCR 3203

DURATION OF COURSE: 4 or 8 hour format

PROGRAM GOALS
The purpose of this classroom and practical hands-on training course is to increase the vehicle operator's awareness of the importance of safe driving principles and practices.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this training session, the participants will be acquainted with the following information:

  • General principles of defensive driving
  • The concepts and application of speed and space management techniques
  • Utilizing the vehicle inspection form and conducting a daily inspection
  • The characteristics of driving vans, company cars and straight trucks
  • Applying the techniques to manage a tire blow out
  • Applying fire prevention techniques and utilizing a fire extinguisher
  • The importance of following established procedures during the event of an accident

At the conclusion of the class, each participant will take a written examination and complete a course evaluation.
