COURSE: Rigging & Material Handling Safety

COMPLIANCE REFERENCE: T8 CCR 3413 & 3416, General Industry and Construction Safety Orders Sections 1637, 1670, 1675, 1509, 1510 and 29 CFR 1926.451, 1910.66

DURATION OF COURSE: 6 hours

PROGRAM GOALS:
The goal of this introductory course is to cover the critical principles of rigging and material safety.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this training session, the participants will be acquainted with the following information:

  • Principles of rigging
  • Safety considerations
  • Hoisting chains and ropes
  • Pulleys, block and tackle
  • Alloy steel chain slings
  • Wire rope slings
  • Synthetic fiber rope
  • Hook and rings

At the conclusion of the class, each participant will take a written examination and complete a course evaluation.

Note: This course will incorporate class lecture, overhead transparencies, video presentations and practical hands-on examples covering site specific concerns.
