Class Objectives:
The goal of this hands-on class is to prepare the individual to competently respond, and provide basic first aid to a sick or injured person until professional help arrives.
CPR
- Activating the EMS systems
- Recognizing the signs & systems of a heart attack
- Determining cardiac arrest
- Administering artificial respiration and “one rescuer” CPR techniques
- Performing the obstructed airway procedures for a conscious and unconscious person
- Performing practical skills
Automated External Defibrilator
First Aid & Emergency Care
- Conducting a primary & secondary survey
- Controlling bleeding; treating for shock; and applying basic bandaging
- Bloodborne pathogens
- Identifying and treating burns; recognizing and providing care for heat and cold injuries
- Stabilizing impaled objects, eye and abdominal injuries
- Managing diabetic, seizure and poisoning emergencies
At the conclusion of the class, each participant will take a written examination and complete a course evaluation.
