Class Objectives:

The goal of this hands-on class is to prepare the individual to competently respond, and provide basic first aid to a sick or injured person until professional help arrives.

CPR

  • Activating the EMS systems
  • Recognizing the signs & systems of a heart attack
  • Determining cardiac arrest
  • Administering artificial respiration and “one rescuer” CPR techniques
  • Performing the obstructed airway procedures for a conscious and unconscious person
  • Performing practical skills

Automated External Defibrilator

First Aid & Emergency Care

  • Conducting a primary & secondary survey
  • Controlling bleeding; treating for shock; and applying basic bandaging
  • Bloodborne pathogens
  • Identifying and treating burns; recognizing and providing care for heat and cold injuries
  • Stabilizing impaled objects, eye and abdominal injuries
  • Managing diabetic, seizure and poisoning emergencies

At the conclusion of the class, each participant will take a written examination and complete a course evaluation.
